Hi! I am Mridula and today I am going to give a summary of the Percy Jackson series. My last blog was about Harry Potter and in my opinion every teen should read the Percy Jackson series at least once. I am definitely not giving you spoilers, but a brief plot summary.

The whole series is based around Percy Jackson and his friends. He suffers from dyslexia and ADHD and nobody pays much attention to him. In the first story he is accused of stealing the weapon of Zeus and he finds that he is the son of a human and a god (they are called demigods). For his protection his mother also takes him to a camp built especially for demigods. He finds that his best-friend, Grover is in fact a Satyr (half-human and half-goat). Though, he is cleared of the allegations on him, he is caught in the current and has to continue his role as a warrior. He learns that his dyslexia and ADHD are some of his greatest powers as a demigod and learns how to defend himself with weapons like swords. As the story unravels, Percy’s power also increases. Percy struggles with the fact that now he has to act like a leader for everyone and that all the decisions he takes may decide the fate of the world. In his journey, he also confronted by various gods, many of them become his friend and other become his enemies. He makes new friends, kills monsters, even enters the famous labyrinth of Greek mythology, continues to face all problems with his sarcastic humor and makes new enemies as well.

Rick Riordan has written the whole book in a way that all teenagers can relate to. The whole book is lighthearted. None of the emotional scenes has too much drama and hence, it does not make you feel like you want to skip a paragraph or a page of the book. However, the second book can get a bit boring even for people who are used to reading tons of books, but my advise is that you take your time to complete the second book. This is because without it you won’t be able to understand the whole plot. It is a perfect book to understand the meaning of bonding, relationships, loyalty, and above all friendship. I advise you not to see the movies as the plot of the second movie is completely different from the books. Also, there are only two movies and five books in total.
If your genre is adventure and action then this book is perfect for your book-list. If you also like a little humor to your books, this series has plenty of that to. Also, for all teens who are interested in Greek mythology ,but do not want to read lengthy history books, this series provide a perfect solution to that problem. It can make you understand the history of Greek Gods in a simple and fun way. Don’t worry the Greek Gods part will not be boring.
However, unlike Harry Potter you can read sub-part of this series like the Demigod Diaries, Demigod Files and the Ultimate Guide which have the same level of humor as all the Percy Jackson books. Rick Riordan will never fail to make you laugh if you are reading his books.
I hope I have convinced you to read this book series. Please leave a comment below if you liked my summary. I will soon be back with a new summary. Contact me if needed and subscribe for new information. Also you can use on the link below for free Percy Jackson series E-books. Thank you!
