Hey! I am Mridula and after a very long pause, I am finally writing another post. So, today I am going to give you the short summary of the third book of the Heroes of Olympus series- Mark of Athena. I told you before that the overall plot of this series is confusing and so, we are taking it one book at a time.

Leo Valdez has constructed a flying ship named Argo II to stop Gaia from awakening. He, Jason Grace, Piper Mclean , and Annabeth Chase, accompanied by Coach Hedge, arrive at Camp Jupiter to meet with Percy Jackson and Roman demigods Frank Zhang and Hazel Levesque. In Camp Jupiter Reyna tells Annabeth that in order to unite Greek and Roman demigods against Gaia, they have to retrieve the Athena Parthenos, a giant statue of Athena that was stolen by the Romans from the Greeks in ancient times. On the way, they face a lot of challenges (as usual) and also, manage to strengthen their friendships and understand each-other better. However, on the way they also get to know that another demigod, Nico di Angelo has been captured and decided to help him escape. All along the way, Annabeth knows that in order to save her mother’s statue she would have to face one of her biggest fears but, decides to keep this information to herself. In the last few chapters Annabeth finally tells everyone of her mission and sets to retrieve the statue. However, a few unexpected events in the last make Annabeth and Percy land in dilemma.
So, in this book Percy and Annabeth finally re-unite. This part however, is funny and not emotional. Something that makes this book worth reading is that Percy and Leo are now in one book. Which basically means that the humour level in this series becomes double. Again, there are many of Hazel’s past life chapters but, as usual they are interesting and necessary to read. In this book few chapters also tell us how Annabeth ended up with the task of finding the Athena Parthenos. There are many parts where all the demigods find themselves in awkward conversation. Though the awkward duo of Percy and Leo are always funny.
So, when Jason, Percy, Annabeth and Frank come in this book together the action level is literally mind-blowing. This book is now a complete manual to both Roman and Greek mythologies which makes this book even more fun to read. In all definitely add this book to your book-list.
I still remember that after I had read this book, I wanted to desperately know my Godly parent and which character from the books do I most relate to and that is when I came over Rick Riordan’s official website. Here you can get updates about his new books or try out quizzes to test your knowledge. So click on the link below, if you want try out these quizzes. And in case you were wondering, my Godly parent is Poseidon and I relate most to Percy Jackson, when it comes to which demigod I am.
