Bonjour! My name is Mridula and this post is about the second book in The Mortal Instruments series- The City of Ashes. This is the second book in a book series which is very wonderful and interesting to read. I love to talk and discuss and talk about this book series. Without any further delay let’s start the summary of the City of Ashes.
In this book, Jace gets arrested bu the Inquisitor who accused Jace of helping Valentine (one off the villains in this book series). He is kept as a prisoner in the silent city where he will be put on trial. Soon enough Valentine attacks the Silent City and kills the Silent Brothers. However, he leaves Jace alive. The inquisitor then starts taking Jace’s innocence as an option and asks Magnus Bane to temporarily keep Jace as a prisoner. The group also finds out that Clary and Jace both have some unique powers and Simon also turns into a…. vampire. Just out of curiosity Jace visits Valentine on a ship where Valentine offers to protect all Jace’s loved ones if he agrees to join him. In some more confusion and allegation put on each other, the book ends in the entire group fighting demons and Valentine. However, Valentine escapes and hence, the story continues.
I just love this book. The genres of Mortal Instruments are varied. It is a perfect blend of drama, action, adventure, romance and a touch of humour. I would lie to myself and you if i tell you that this is not my favourite book of all of them (except just one other book in the series). A wonderfully written book with a lot of things that become clear and other things that surprise you, this book is bound to keep you addicted and on your toes the entire story. The book is important so, do not leave it out.
The action and adventure everyone provides in this book is really good. This book also opens us too many secrets that one might not have thought of. It also opens up more about Valentine and some of his backstory and what necessary relations he might have with Jace that the inquisitor doubted Jace. There are also implications that Alec and Magnus Bane are dating each-other. Simon faces a major change in his life and the change was actually surprising. Clary as usual was as usual a lot of drama (not the good kind).
